Drawing & Painting: Kairos
The ancient Greeks had two words for “time”: chronos and kairos. Chronos refers to chronological, sequential time – linear and quantitative. Kairos, by contrast, signifies a moment of deep presence – the right or opportune time for action, felt rather than measured.
My drawing and painting practice began before memory: I still find lines I drew as an infant on the pages of my childhood books. The works gathered here were made between 2019 and the present. Although they fall into the timeline of the years, they mark moments of kairos – when something within me asked to be drawn or painted.
